Kind Mom

Hi there! Thank you so much for wishing to learn more about Kind Mom! We exist as a mechanism of support for all young families, in order to prevent the isolation that is often felt by young families in the modern world. This isolation stems from extraneous factors such as having extended family living far away, balancing work & life schedules, all while navigating raising young children. 

To mitigate this isolation, we have created a community through Kind Mom. We serve mothers and families in through various local community events throughout the year centering around mindfulness and movement! 

Kind Mom also has facilitated maternal mental health and mindful movement groups at local shelters for mothers. Additionally, we serve families with content related to infant & maternal mental health, child development, and familial mental health through social media, blogging, and our partnership with Fauquier County Public Schools, and Family Shelter Services. Our deepest seated goal is that of prevention—by equipping families with the needed care and tools, we aim to help families break maladaptive generational cycles. 

The heart of our organization is rooted in intention, community service, and love, all with the clinical expertise to back it up. Our Board Leadership Team is comprised of 2 licensed mental health clinicians and 2 registered yoga instructors.

Our favorite annual event is during Maternal Mental Health Month and takes place on Mother’s Day. It is called Project SunnyGram!  We first implemented this special project before the global COVID pandemic. A SunnyGram is a handwritten card crafted with gentle words of encouragement, tied with a beautiful flower, and given to local mothers residing in housing programs, new mothers in the local hospitals & NICUs, in addition to confidential domestic violence shelters. 

We also love partnering with local businesses to support our community that is in need! Last year, with a partnership of 2 local businesses, we created over 2,000 snow kits for Fauquier FISH!! We also most recently created a new mother support event, and received over $500 in gift cards, plus new baby and post-partum support items!! 

Your special gift will help us to increase capacity, as we are currently all volunteer run and sustained.
