MUTUALISM is the ecological interaction between two or more species where all benefit. For example, birds rely on nectar produced by flowering trees every spring to fuel their migrations. The trees use birds for pollination and seed dispersal, ensuring their continued reproductive success.

Mutualism also describes the Flora of Virginia’s relationship with our DONORS. Generous contributions allow us to deliver the most accurate, in-depth information on Virginia’s vascular plants in return.

Learn more, buy the App, and DONATE at floraofvirginia.org.

Environmental professionals, educators and enthusiasts rely on the Flora of Virginia to do their work to protect and restore native landscapes and identify rare species, like those below found in the Northern Piedmont.
