Forgotten Felines of Culpeper is a nonprofit 501(c)(3). Our actions speak for us ~ we are passionate about what we do!                                                                 We stand on our reputation ~ voted Best Animal Rescue in 2021, 2022, and 2023 and Best Nonprofit in Culpeper County in 2020, prior to a Best Animal Rescue category. Whether it's looking in a field for hidden kittens that were dumped on the side of a road, rescuing a kitten 50 and 120 feet up in a tree (twice!), finding funding & getting surgery for a kitten found with half a leg or for a cat with an enormous bite wound, driving 4 hours round trip to save the life of cats on death row at a shelter, spaying/neutering and rehoming a colony of 44 cats behind a local restaurant, or helping an emaciated cat that was shunned by a neighborhood, we are there. WE CARE and WE ARE COMMITTED TO HELPING LOST AND ABANDONED CATS/KITTENS IN OUR COMMUNITY.

More About Us

Forgotten Felines of Culpeper became a 501(c)(3) rescue in June 2018. We are an all VOLUNTEER rescue. 100% of donations going to the care of our cats. No money is received from the county or government.

Here are just some of the things we do:

  • Coordinate with kill shelters to save lives by pulling cats from euthanasia lists.
  • Rescue abandoned, sick, or orphaned kittens/cats in Culpeper or surrounding areas.
  • Rescue and give immediate care for cats who are in need of emergency medical attention.
  • We have a no kill policy and only euthanize cats who are suffering and have a grim prognosis, per vet's advice.
  • Provide warm and loving foster homes, proper veterinary care, socialization (if necessary), to enable cats to find loving permanent homes before adoption.
  • All kittens and cats receive 2+ distemper vaccines, receive a rabies vaccine, are spayed/neutered, tested for feline leukemia,  FIV,  and heartworm, are microchipped with a lifetime registration (no more paying $20 every year to renew!).
  • TNR (trap/neuter/return) cats that would not make good housecats and are happier outside.
  • Educate the community via our Facebook and webpage while consistently informing/updating on the cats we help.
  • Provide education, training, and supplies to those who have found abandoned kittens and want to raise them and keep them.
  • Enable Meet & Greets at the Culpeper PetSmart to meet your new best friend.
  • We create  "fun"draisers, such as our twice a year Crafts' Meow, yard sales, auctions, etc.
  • Provide opportunities for students & citizens for community service.
  • Provide instructions, counsel, and loan traps to help citizens find their lost pets.
  • Counsel pet owners when cats have behavioral issues.
  • In 2021 we rescued 226 cats/kittens and found homes for 171. In 2022 we rescued 197 and 167 were adopted.

Forgotten Felines of Culpeper. Rescuing the abandoned and forgotten, with no cat left behind.

Testimonials

Tina D.: Wow! I feel so blessed to have happened on Forgotten Felines of Culpeper. Lynn DeFazio not only returned my call promptly. She was kind caring and put me in touch with a person able to help take a stray that I could not care for after a month of searching for help. ...not without instruction however that if it did not work out to let her know... She assured me she would help me not to worry.... And did a follow up... AWESOME... Thank you Lynn and God Bless you and people like you who care so much...you made it happen! I am so grateful

Chad B.: I live about an hour away but they still took the time to give me resources to help a stray cat I had found. The tips they gave me really helped in securing him a home!

Brittany P.: Hands down the best cat rescue in Culpeper! So grateful that FFC was able to help me out with a feral cat and her 5 newborn kittens. The founder, Lynn is truly a godsend to cats & kittens with her willingness to do just about anything and everything, in record time, to make sure all the feline furbabies are safe and sound.

Brittany L: Not only did they respond within 30 minutes to my message about finding a kitten, but they went above and beyond communicating and helping me until a foster could pick it up. I would highly recommend this rescue! Thanks Lynn and Shelly!

Jessica N. : This organization has such a heart for the many local cats and kittens in need of homes. They provide excellent communication throughout the adoption process and ensure that new pet owners are prepared to provide welcoming, healthy, safe homes for these precious kitties. I am still in awe of the wonderful care our kittens received in their foster home. As strays, they came into care in a pretty ragged state. But now, after lots of love and attentive care, they are healthy, bright eyed babies that are growing beautifully. Thank you, Lynn, Bobbie Sue, and Mary for saving our kitties' lives!

Margaret S. : The woman that runs this rescue is an angel. Called me quickly after receiving my email to help a sweet cat. She took him in quickly and has offered to help me with a few other homeless kitties.
