A Little Heart

A Little Heart is a 501(c)3 non-profit, charitable organization located in The Plains, Virginia. Our mission is to help children in the greater Fauquier County area who lack the resources they need to be successful.  We accomplish this mission by: 

• Working in collaboration with established organizations to identify at-risk youth and their needs.
• Working directly with elementary and middle school Principals and Counselors to meet the immediate needs of underprivileged children and to ensure those children have opportunities that would otherwise be out of their reach, through our Principal's Opportunity Fund.  
• Offering comfort along with access to educational materials to children in crisis situations, through our Project Sweet Dreams.    

The coronavirus pandemic has quickly and dramatically changed the needs of children in our community. Not only are more children in Fauquier County in need, their needs are different and more acute.  These at-risk children desperately need our help.  During this pandemic A Little Heart has two goals we can accomplish with your generous donations: 

• First, make sure children in our community don’t go hungry
•  Second, make sure all children have the learning materials they need at home

Now that economically challenged children are not receiving meals at school, the need for food is immediate and dire.  Plus, many are trying to learn from home but lack the basic school supplies to do so.  We will work with principals to provide not just food, but also books, paper, pencils and other supplies so children can continue to learn at home and thus ensure they don't fall behind their more privileged counterparts. 

When children return to school, we will continue our original mission through A Little Heart's Principal's Opportunity Fund.  Through this program we have helped pay for breakfast, lunches, eyeglasses, hearing tests, field trips, math aids, lice kits, memberships in organizations like Future Farmers of America and National Honor Society, and so much more!
