WHO WE ARE:

The Big Man Foundation is a Virginia based 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity whose mission is to alleviate and prevent hardships for athletic coaches and their families. We fulfill our mission by 1) offering grants and other resources to coaches and their families when tragedy strikes and 2) doing our part to prevent tragedies by taking on a proactive role in the coaching community to preach health and wellness.

Gifts that we raise during the 2023 Give Local Piedmont campaign will be used to:

  1. Further our mission of supporting athletic coaches and coaching families that are experiencing unimaginable hardships.
  2. Help us fund projects like the work we are doing in the Piedmont area to increase availability and access of lifesaving AED devices in public parks, youth practice facilities, and gyms.

ABOUT US:

The Big Man Foundation was founded by Casey Kroll in 2020. Casey was a member of the football team at James Madison University (‘11-15) before becoming a college football coach. Casey was inspired to create an organization that serves coaches after witnessing his college football coach and coaching mentor's lengthy battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Coach Jamal Powell passed away in Spring of 2021 at 39 years old. He is survived by his wife, Rachel, and their three young children. His core values of service and selflessness are the foundation for what we do at the Big Man Foundation.
