Our Story

Established in 1976, the Child Care and Learning Center (CCLC) is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to providing a stimulating and safe environment that supports active learning, language development, play, and nurturing relationships for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years in Rappahannock County. We have been in continuous operation for almost 50 years providing high-quality childcare, preschool, and after-school program to support our working families. 

CCLC is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and a Level 3 (high scores!) provider through Virginia Quality for best early childhood education standards.  We use a research-based teaching curriculum, The Creative Curriculum, which builds children’s confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills from the beginning of their lives, building a path to success. We are also proud of our Children in Nature program, focusing on giving experiences in nature that foster healthier, happier and smarter kids.

And we truly mean it! As the only childcare facility in Rappahannock County, we are committed to serving all families in our growing community regardless of income level. Over the years, we have provided affordable child care for all families and currently 60% of CCLC's students receive full tuition assistance.

This year the CCLC board of directors have committed $4,000 to match donations made during Give Local Piedmont. This means that every dollar up to the first $4,000 raised will be matched dollar to dollar!
