Fauquier Education Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Fauquier Education Foundation (FEF) is a 501(c)(3) committed to initiating, magnifying, and sustaining excellence in Fauquier County Public Schools. We exist to close competitive gaps and enrich the educational journey for every student and educator. By building bridges between schools, parents, and local businesses, we transform community support into classroom success.

Our Story

Founded originally to empower educators through professional development, the Fauquier Education Foundation has evolved into a vital pillar of support for the entire school district. Today, our mission encompasses a vast range of innovative programs that reach every corner of Fauquier County Public Schools. Your contribution to this campaign provides the essential funding needed to sustain our commitment to excellence.

Thank you for investing in our students and our future!

EDUCATOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS: Four Decades of Educator Empowerment
For over 40 years, the Fauquier Education Foundation has championed the belief that the best way to support our students is to invest in the professionals who lead them. Since 1982, we have provided $500,000 in grants to ensure that high-quality professional development—which is often financially out of reach—remains accessible to our teachers. In 2016, we proudly expanded this mission to include all qualified educators, aides, support staff, and administrators, recognizing that every role is vital to a student's success. By removing these financial barriers to elite seminars and conferences,
we empower our staff to bring fresh inspiration and cutting-edge expertise directly back into the classrooms of Fauquier County.

MEAL DEBT SUPPORT: A Pioneering Lifeline
In a first-of-its-kind partnership in Virginia, the Foundation and Fauquier County Public Schools' Nutrition Department launched a dedicated program to assist families facing extraordinary financial hardships—such as medical crises or job loss—who do not qualify for federal aid. Because regulations prohibit schools from using operational funds to offset student meal debt, this initiative serves as a vital bridge, using private donations to equitably tackle the county's fluctuating $100,000 meal debt. By providing this meaningful lifeline, we ensure every child stays nourished while protecting the school division's budget for essential educational resources.

TAYLOR LEGACY COMMISSION: Honoring a Shared History
Through a powerful partnership between the Taylor Historical Society and the Fauquier Education Foundation, the Taylor Legacy Commission is uniting students, educators, and community members to preserve the profound history of the original Taylor High School. More than just a building, Taylor was the heart of a community, and this initiative seeks to honor the families, administrators, and alumni who defined its legacy. By funding a commemorative statue, dedicated benches, and a memorial wall inscribed with the names of those who shaped its story, we ensure this vital chapter of Fauquier’s heritage is celebrated and remembered for generations to come.

MY FIRST BOOK CLUB: Building Young Readers
This signature Foundation program empowers at-risk preschool students by fostering a lifelong love of reading and critical early literacy skills. Each month, children receive new books for both classroom group study and at-home reading, while teachers set personalized goals to track and improve individual progress. By providing students with their own bookshelves to build their very first home libraries, we ensure that the joy of discovery and the tools for academic success are accessible to our youngest learners long after the school day ends.
