This Give Local Piedmont Day is an opportunity to help ensure that every patient and family Hospice of the Piedmont serves receives expert, compassionate care — regardless of their ability to pay.

While the Medicare hospice benefit provides essential hospice services, it does not cover everything patients and families may need at the end of life. That’s where community philanthropy makes a meaningful difference.

$10,000 MATCH

Make your gift today during Give Local Piedmont and it can be matched—up to $10,000—by Hospice of the Piedmont Board Member Bob Elliott, in memory of Christine M. Elliott.

Care Without Barriers

“Every patient deserves dignity, comfort, and expert care at the end of life. Because of generous community support, we provide care based on what patients truly need, not just what insurance allows. Patients often think going into hospice care means giving up things that Medicare will not cover. Philanthropy allows us to care for the whole person.” - Molly, Director Hospice Homecare

The Compassionate Care Fund helps ensure that patients who are uninsured or underinsured can still receive hospice care — covering the cost of services so no one is turned away based on ability to pay.

“My patient never expected to be facing a terminal diagnosis so suddenly. With limited resources and little support, even planning for his own cremation has felt overwhelming. He has always loved being outdoors, especially spending time by the river and fishing. Community philanthropy is such a blessing and I’m grateful we’re able to provide him with peace of mind knowing this will be taken care of. What an overwhelming situation, and a reminder of how important this support is.” — Lisa, Social Worker

The Serenity Fund addresses urgent, non-medical needs that can deeply impact comfort and dignity. Whether it’s providing a window air conditioner during a summer heat wave, helping keep the lights on, or assisting with cremation expenses, this fund helps relieve the burden of financial stress so patients and families can focus on what matters most: being together.

The Power of Community

Every gift helps us go beyond standard coverage to provide personalized, compassionate support. It allows our care teams to respond to each patient’s unique needs with flexibility, creativity, and empathy.

This is the power of community philanthropy. It’s what makes it possible to guide life’s final journey with expertise and compassion, and to truly make every moment count.

Caring for patients over 100 is a profound privilege. The 100 Club helps ensure that patients over 100 years old who no longer qualify for the Medicare hospice benefit can continue receiving the comfort, care, and support they deserve. Through the generosity of community philanthropy, we are able to remain by their side — honoring each life with dignity, compassion, and presence.” -Abby, Chief Clinical Officer

Give your gift today and help ensure that care is always based on need, not ability to pay.
