Independence Empowerment Center Inc

Independence Empowerment Center (IEC) is a unique organization. We pride ourselves on diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. IEC specializes in working directly with the disability community, this includes everyone with any diagnosis, age, or fiscal circumstance. IEC continuously makes an effort to assist our consumers and the community with gaining access to affordable and accessible housing, gaining accessible work and working environments. Additionally, IEC assists the community with youth transition services, including transferring from high school to employment or to higher education through the PRE-ETS program. At IEC, we also provide options for home modifications as we partner with Virginia housing for the accessibility housing grant program. 

Independence Empowerment Center (IEC) services the community in many ways. For example, we assist our consumers by finding appropriate community services, we help consumers exercise their civil rights, participate in all aspects of society and by advocating their value to society. Additionally, we help our home bound residents with enrolling and maintaining the CCC+ Medicaid waiver. This waiver program provides the needed resources for a consumer who needs help or support in regard to their activities of daily living, while simultaneously offering peer mentoring services. Our mentoring services offer a safe space for a person with a disability to talk about issues or concerns and receive help from another person with a disability to come up with a positive and constructive solution.
