Help Us Fight Hunger in the Northern Piedmont Community

According to Feeding America, in Virginia, 658,470 people are facing hunger - and of them,182,170 are children facing hunger. Please join Minority & Veteran Farmers of the Piedmont during Northern Piedmont Community Foundation's Give Local Day on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Our goal is to raise $7,000 to ensure our local community has access farm-fresh, nutritious foods, including fruits, vegetables, nuts, eggs, beef and pork. 

  • $25.00 - Buys a small, hand-held agricultural tool. 

  • $50.00 - Provides a medium size bag of seeds to a community center.

  • $100.00 - Provides lunch and water for community volunteers.

  • $200.00 - Buys small farming starter kits for local youth.

  • $300.00 - Provides a poultry processing class. 

  • $500.00 - Provides a one-hour farming class for local youth.

  • $1,000.00 - Starts a community vegetable garden, resulting in plenty of tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage, beans, carrots and other vegetables to go around.

  • $1,500.00 - Buys a cow, which can produce as many as 3 gallons per day of nutritious, calcium-packed milk for families to drink.


About Us

The Minority and Veteran Farmers of the Piedmont (MVFP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is located in the rolling foothills of the Piedmont Region of Virginia. MVFP is a grassroots organization that was established in July of 2019 to develop educational and experiential learning opportunities through hands-on instruction. We function to promote training, coaching, and mentorships for minorities, veterans, farmers, and youth both urban and rural.

The Minority and Veteran Farmers of Piedmont aims to raise money to provide robust hands-on, experiential learning and innovative programs to veterans, women, socially disadvantaged and minority farmers across the piedmont region. The MVFP mission is to educate communities on sustainable and scalable agricultural practices; while creating awareness of rural living, environmental stewardship, local food access, and food security to build healthy agricultural communities and families. 


We are fortunate to have a strong coalition of supporters, but our work relies on new and renewed contributions. Your tax-deductible gifts can help us greatly in our efforts.
