Piedmont Area Soap Box Derby Foundation

The Piedmont Area Soap Box Derby is a non-profit youth education and leadership development organization whose mission is to build knowledge and character, and to create meaningful experiences through collaboration, fair and honest racing competitions, STEM curriculum, and other community-focused activities.

More About Us

Piedmont Area Soap Box Derby was established in Culpeper in 2003. We have all four divisions available at our track - Stock, Super Stock, Masters, and Super Kids. Our Super Kids Division is for children who are unable to pilot a car themselves. An experienced racer takes the wheel with the Super Kid beside them as a co-pilot, and they get to experience the thrill of the hill together. We bring All-American wholesome fun to families throughout our region! The winner of each division at our Annual June Local Derby represents our region at the World Championships in Akron, Ohio in July. Additionally, we host 5 Rally Race Weekends at our track in which our Local Racers and Racers from other Local Race Cities participate. For our Local Racers we have Racer Car Build Clinics and Test & Tune events. Over the years, we have been recognized by International Soap Box Derby for numerous awards: Outstanding New Race City, Outstanding Race Director (multiple times!), 2006 4th Largest Derby in the World, and 2007 2nd Largest Derby in the World. One of our Junior Committee Members, Aaron, received the Inaugural President's Youth Volunteer Award. We currently have 6 World Champions from PASBD!
