Bull Run Mountains Conservancy: Education, Research, & Stewardship 

Founded in 1994, Bull Run Mountains Conservancy (BRMC) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the protection of the Bull Run Mountains Region. For 31 years, we have sought to inspire the public to appreciate and understand the natural and cultural heritage that surrounds us. We encourage our membership to adopt a conservation-focused lifestyle where preservation is not a hands-off policy, but an engaged and committed endeavor by people who love and care for our Piedmont landscape. 

Engaged Locally 

BRMC is closely connected to the land and people of the Bull Run Mountains region. It was founded by lifelong residents of the mountain region, our Executive Director lives and raises his family near the mountains, and all members of the Board of Directors live locally. BRMC is hyper-focused on the Bull Run Mountains region. By training our sights strictly on our local areas that we know so well, we increase our impact.

For 31 years, we have been working to preserve our unique ecosystems through a three-pronged strategy: 

• Education: We help Bull Run Mountains residents form an intimate connection with their surroundings and develop a worldview that values nature, wildlife, and environmental health. 

• Research: We gather data from our work in the field to inform our efforts and contribute to the overall scientific understanding of the ecosystems of our region. 
• Stewardship: We nurture our local land by stemming the encroachment of invasive species, planting native trees and grasses, and keeping our waterways robust. 

It all adds up to leveraging the power of peoples' hearts, minds, and muscle to ensure our local ecosystems function as nature intended. By supporting BRMC's mission, you are supporting the health of your own neighborhood-for yourself, for your family, and for the next generation.
