Culpeper Housing and Shelter Services (CHASS) operates a 15 bed Emergency Homeless Shelter in Culpeper. The shelter is for families and single women who are literally homeless. Our goal is to rapidly re-house shelter residents into permanent housing in thirty days or less. CHASS is more than a shelter. Every resident is provided budget and housing counseling, referrals to local, state and federal resources, job search services and help with developing an individualized housing service plan. CHASS also administers the Rapid Re-housing and Prevention Programs for the Foothills Housing Network which includes the counties of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock. Rapid Re-housing helps provide homeless families and individuals with financial assistance to move into permanent housing. The Prevention program provides funds to families and individuals who are facing homelessness in 14 days or less. The program is designed to divert clients from homelessness and help keep them stably housed. Case management is provided to all clients in all programs. CHASS also does an Adopt-A-Family program every Christmas. Each year we help provide Christmas to well over 150 children.
