The Madison County Education Foundation (MCEF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Virginia. It operates independently from the Madison County Public Schools and is dedicated to raising private funds and facilitating programs to enhance and augment educational opportunities for students in Madison County. Because of generous donations from individuals and corporations we are able to fund programs that support lifelong learning for our Madison County children.

More About Us

MCEF LOVES LEARNERS! We work in collaboration with the Madison County Public Schools and the greater community to identify and fund education-related projects that improve the educational programs and services they provide. We have a positive impact on the Madison County community through teacher grants, student scholarships, community grants to our partner agencies and other special projects.

Some of our recent grants include helping fund Camp Unakite (a STEM summer day-camp), purchasing exercise equipment for the Wetsel Middle School  playground,  and helping fund the Madison Library Summer Reading Program.  At Waverly Yowell Elementary School we helped fund the Gaga pits which are used during recess by the students.

Through our programs and grants, we have seen students improve their reading, become more engaged with their learning and continue their education. Each new donor allows us to increase our impact and help our community.

Testimonials

Dear Madison County Education Foundation,

Thank you for all you are doing in support of Madison County Public Schools.  These are some uncertain times, and the support of MCEF means more than ever.

Specifically, I would like to express my appreciation for the IPads purchased by the MCHS math department through a grant awarded last Spring. The availability of an IPad has made it possible for me to conduct my dual enrollment math courses online after the school closure.  I am able to scan all documents with it to post to Google classroom and can connect the IPad as a whiteboard into my virtual classes or into sessions during office hours when I am helping one student.  It is nearly impossible to teach math, virtually or face-to-face, without working problems out step-by-step, and the IPad purchased for math teachers by Madison Education Foundation made that possible.

Warmest regards,

Mary Davis, Math Teacher

Dear Friends of the Madison County Education Foundation,

How time has flown! Around this time last year, I was applying for this scholarship, eagerly hoping I could be a recipient. Now, almost a year later, I am finishing up classes and preparing for my finals. They say "time flies when you are having fun" and I cannot agree more. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year at the University of Virginia and am constantly amazed that I only have a few short weeks until this school year comes to an end.

.... I have grown as a person by associating myself with people I have similar interests with. Immediately entering college, I found a group of wonderful friends who all have their passions, which they exude. I have also immersed myself in different clubs and organizations I'm passionate about, ranging from a club sport team at UVA to volunteering organizations. The friends I have met through these organizations have all helped to shape me into a better person and I learned so much from them!

Thank you for believing in me and investing in my academic success with this scholarship! Receiving a great education at this wonderful university is an enormous privilege that I never take for granted, and little moments throughout my day remind me of how grateful I am! I am eager for what the future holds for me. I am excited to finish this semester and begin my second year in the fall!

Best,
J. Z.
