People Incorporated helps economically disadvantaged people improve their lives, families and communities in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, and Rappahannock counties.
We operate Empowering Culpeper, an all-volunteer food distribution program, work with partners to house homeless individuals and provide affordable housing, personal and business loans and free tax prep services. We also advocate on behalf of abused or neglected children in the court system through our CASA program.
With your donation to People Inc., we can continue to provide fresh and healthy food to the community, help our community members remain housed, build local small businesses, protect children and more. Together, we can make a difference in our communities.
People Incorporated helps families in Northern Piedmont reach their goals through the Whole Family Approach. The program helps families break the intergenerational cycle of poverty by providing coaching services in goal setting, budgeting and more.
Cierra's journey with the Whole Family Approach began during a chaotic time of her life. She became the adoptive parent of her two week old great-niece, Ahlani as Ahlani's mother struggled with addiction. Cierra learned how to care for a newborn as she faced mounds of red tape to become Ahlani’s permanent caregiver. While all of this was happening, Cierra was continuing to care for her mother, who struggles with seizures and needed daily living assistance.
Recognizing the need for support, Cierra turned was referred to the Whole Family Approach. Through the guidance of her Whole Family Approach coach, Cierra connected with a Certified Patient Care Technician training program, which aligned with her passion for caregiving. She and her coach worked together to create a vision board and outline her five- and ten-year goals. Her coach provided essential resources and items for Ahlani, ensuring a supportive environment for her development.
Now, with increased income from her new certification, she can better provide for Ahlani and assist her mother. The financial stability achieved through the program has even enabled Cierra to build up her savings and rent her own townhouse.
Next, Cierra dreams of becoming a homeowner and building a secure future for herself and Ahlani. The trust and connection she developed with People Incorporated staff has been life changing. By having someone to call and trust, she now believes in endless possibilities for herself and her family. Cierra aspires to pursue further education and gain certification as a medical assistant. With the continued guidance and support from People Incorporated’s Whole Family Approach program, Cierra is confident in her potential to achieve her dreams.
