Together we can create a County where older adults of all backgrounds and economic means can age in place with the support of a caring community.

Rapp at Home

Rapp at Home was formed in 2015 based on the Village Model of neighbors helping neighbors. We are one of the few non-fee, rural-based Villages. We are funded through donations and grants.

After nine years in operation, we have grown from 50 Friends (members) to 650 Friends, which is 30% of the over-60 population in Rappahannock County.

These Friends are served by 81 active volunteers. Rapp at Home Volunteers provide practical help like transportation back and forth to medical appointments and picking up groceries and prescriptions. They help ward off isolation and loneliness by delivering kind gifts, making friendly visits, phone calls, or sending cards.

We provide 12 social activities monthly. We feel every interaction is an opportunity to form connections, deepen bonds, and establish long-term friendships.

Together we can create a County where older adults of all backgrounds and economic means can age in place with the support of a caring community.

We are stronger together.  Collaboration with other nonprofits, the Benevolent Fund, Food Pantry, Encompass, Department of Social Services, Senior Center, Government Agencies, and the School System. All serving aging adults only strengthens the social safety net.
