The mission of Encompass Community Supports (formerly known as Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services) is to improve the quality of life of residents of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties by providing housing, comprehensive behavioral health, substance use, developmental disability, children's and aging services.

OUR FOCUS FOR 2024 GIVE LOCAL PIEDMONT: COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS FOR OLDER ADULTS

PROVIDING SUPPORT FOR THOSE WHO SLIP THROUGH THE CRACKS

During a winter night in January 2023, Foothills Housing Network reported a total of 275 individuals (including 92 children) within our service area were homeless.  The number of individuals unsheltered (living in spaces not meant to human habitation) more than doubled: from 35 in 2022 to 75 in 2023. Eighteen of the 25 veterans were unsheltered: sleeping in their cars, in wooded areas, behind stores, within abandoned structures. 

How can you help? Funds raised through this year's Give Local Piedmont campaign will be used to support our Housing Hardship Fund, created to help prevent people from homelessness; to assist individuals - including low income older adults - with utility payments, security deposits, rent assistance, rent application fees - and so much more. 

NO OTHER PROGRAM WITHIN OUR AREA PROVIDES EMERGENCY HOUSING FUNDS. Unplanned situations and circumstances happen to many. We have seen a significant increase in requests, and one call is too many. Please donate to our Housing Hardship Fund to help us help those who fall through the cracks.
