Double Your Impact to Conserve the Nature of Rappahannock!

Rappahannock County is a tranquil haven with its star-filled night skies, stunning views, protected land, and a community dedicated to its conservation.  But this beauty isn't accidental; it requires constant vigilance and active stewardship.  

The core goal of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection (RLEP) is to protect and enhance the beauty and nature of our unique county. Today, with the Give Local Piedmont fundraising event, we have a powerful opportunity to multiply your efforts toward this goal. 

Matching Grant: The RLEP Board is offering a special Matching Grant challenge this year. Every dollar you donate today will be matched 1:1 (up to $12,000). Increase the impact of your contribution by giving to RLEP while this special match lasts. 

Your support directly funds a variety of RLEP programs, including: 

• Protecting Our Zoning:  RLEP has engaged Zoning and Land Use counsel to monitor zoning ordinance revisions, rezoning applications, and other land use matters to ensure Rappahannock’s rural character is not lost to ill-conceived development or code changes with unintended consequences.  

• Protecting Our Dark Skies:  Educating and engaging the community is key to protecting our starry nights for present and future generations and maintaining the designation of the Rappahannock County Park as an International Dark Sky Park. 

• Preserving the Nature of Rappahannock:   RLEP believes that education inspires action. By highlighting the county’s extraordinary flora and fauna through library lectures, nature walks, invasive management classes, etc., we strive to help residents learn practical ways to steward their land and protect our special corner of the planet for people and nature. 

By giving today on the GLP Website, your $50 becomes $100. Your $250 becomes $500. [*See important note below] This is the most effective way to ensure RLEP has the resources to remain an active force for conserving the natural resources and rural character of Rappahannock County.

*RLEP’s Board match is an offline match provided independently of the GLP platform.  As such, you will not see the “match progress” bar move in real time.  However, be assured that your gift will be doubled up to the limit of the match.  Once the GLP campaign is over, RLEP will contact each donor to advise them of the total donations received and matched.  We will also post this information on our website (www.rlep.org).

Key Campaign Dates

• Early Giving: Begins April 28, 2026.

• Give Local Piedmont Day: May 12, 2026.

• Matching Deadline: Ensure your gift is logged by 11:59 PM on May 12 to count toward the challenge.
