CULPEPER NEEDS CASA
All kids in foster care need CASAs - Court Appointed Special Advocates. When they have them, they get better medical care, do better in school, and spend less time in foster care.
But the CASA in Culpeper is at risk. Their umbrella organization, People Inc., reached out to Piedmont CASA because we are a natural fit. First, we are in the same judicial footprint, Virginia’s 16th District; and secondly, we have decades of experience in the region. Since 1995, we have served over 2,700 children in Albemarle, Charlottesville, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Madison.
LET'S TEAM UP
Right now, there is an experienced Culpeper staff dedicated to ensuring that Culpeper children in foster care have a strong voice in the courts and in the community. Let's keep it that way. By teaming up with Piedmont CASA, the Culpeper CASA office can keep running without interruption. This will ensure continuity and expertise in a high-need region, and open the door to expanded services such as Bridges to Success for Older Youth in Foster Care.
YOUR SUPPORT IS KEY
Piedmont CASA has received seed funding to launch this transition, but we also need community support to help absorb and sustain the operations of Culpeper CASA. Community funding that will help Piedmont CASA scale up recruitment and training efforts for new CASA Advocates, while expanding support staff and infrastructure to accommodate the new county. Community funding to preserve critical services for children already in the system, while creating the capacity to serve many more.
