Mountainside Montessori

Mountainside Montessori is Northern Piedmont's preeminent provider of early childhood, primary, and secondary Montessori education. We are one of the only schools in Virginia to provide an accredited Montessori education to children from birth through the ninth grade, with specialized focus on sustainable agriculture, environmental stewardship, entrepreneurship, and free play in nature. This paradigm is essential in today’s busy world, where devices and distractions abound. 

Mountainside provides a beautiful, pastoral setting for children to develop their own joy of learning and self-confidence. We give children the time, the Guides, and the environment to develop at their own pace, in their own way. We follow the child in all that we do, and we depend on our community of families to support and uphold our ideals.

Donations from our community are critical to Mountainside's continued success. Your support provides much-needed revenue to fund the school's most essential needs including operating expenses, payroll, rent, materials, and support for the ongoing activities of our students and Guides. The needs are many but the opportunities are equally abundant when we all join together and make an impact with our philanthropy. Here's how you can make a difference:

• 4 gifts of $50 keep the school's van filled with gas for one month
• 5 gifts of $100 double one Guide's annual budget for our children's classroom materials
• 1 gift of $250 provides materials for a week-long Summer Program at Mountainside
• 1 gift of $1000 registers two Guides for the annual AMI refresher course where they'll learn valuable new strategies for giving our children the best possible Montessori education
• 5 gifts of $1000 supply the school with ink, printing paper, toilet paper, hand towels, light bulbs and other necessary materials for one semester
