Over 500 students in Fauquier County need food support when the school day ends. While school breakfast and lunch are consistent and reliable, families often struggle to provide this same level of consistency on weekends and during school breaks.
Since 2014, Fauquier FISH's Weekend Power Pack program has partnered with Fauquier County Public Schools to help feed these children. School staff identify students in need, and FISH volunteers pack and deliver food to schools across Fauquier County each week. When the barrier of hunger is removed, students are better equipped to lead healthier lives both inside and outside the classroom.
The Weekend Power Pack program is currently feeding 540 students each week. To date, over 200 students have been sponsored thanks to the generosity of individuals, groups, and foundations in our community. Our goal is to have every child sponsored, so we can continue to fight childhood hunger in Fauquier County. Can you help and sponsor a child today?
